A sex offender is to be extradited to New Zealand from Australia after being found guilty of sexually abusing a five-year-old boy.

Craig Edward Broadley, 43, from Lower Hutt, pleaded guilty to nine charges when he appeared in the Brisbane District Court on Friday.

He is expected to be sent back to New Zealand within days.

In 2014 Broadley was convicted on charges of making child pornography.

His arrest helped break open a global pedophile ring run by a Queensland couple.

The Brisbane court heard that as well as performing a sex act on the child, he took indecent photos of naked children.

Judge Douglas McGill imposed a suspended prison sentence, as Broadley had already been held in prison awaiting his court appearance.
