Police are waiting for more information from South Korean authorities about a man who reportedly fled to New Zealand after three of his family members were killed.

The man, who is 35, was named in the Korea Herald accused of the deaths of his mother, step-father, and 14-year-old half brother.

Korean police said the man had left for New Zealand on Monday afternoon, two days after the killings.

They said assistance from Interpol has been requested for his extradition.

New Zealand police said they would determine what to do next once they receive more information.
