Conserve water warning for Hauraki Plains

3:40 pm on 5 October 2017

Households in the Hauraki Plains have been asked to conserve water following a problem at a treatment plant.

Hauraki District Council said processing of drinking water at the Kerepehi Treatment Plant was taking longer than usual because of the problem.

The council reassured residents the water was completely safe to drink, but those in Ngatea, Waitakaruru, Turua, Kerepehi, Netherton and the rural areas in between may experience reduced water pressure and some discolouration.

It said staff were trying to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
