Bus rolls in South Island, passengers injured

A bus has rolled in South Canterbury and several passengers have been injured.

The bus carrying six people rolled about 10.30am on State Highway 79 near Geraldine.

A St John spokesperson said a helicopter airlifted one passenger in a serious condition to Timaru hospital.

Other passengers suffered minor and moderate injuries and were taken by ambulances to hospital.

The road has been reduced to one lane.
