The head of New Zealand Cricket says there is a fair chance that the Black Caps will tour Zimbabwe next year.
Zimbabwe's minister of sport is visiting New Zealand to try to persuade cricket officials that it's now safe to tour.
A tour was planned for last year but postponed because of political instability, and a tour this month was cancelled because of questions about security.
New Zealand Cricket's chief executive, Justin Vaughan, says he sees no barrier to resuming the two countries' relationship, given that Zimbabwe has already hosted England and Sri Lanka.
He says the Black Caps could tour next May.
Zimbabwean Senator David Coltart says a New Zealand tour would help Zimbabwe move forward and he is expecting a decision to be made by the end of the week.
Mr Coltart, who is also minister for education, sport and culture, says the political situation is now more stable.
He says he has had positive meetings with Sport Minister Murray McCully and Mr Vaughan, with whom he discussed the possibility of a New Zealand A side touring Zimbabwe in September.
