A woman who stole more than $2 million from her employer has been sentenced in the Wellington District Court to prison for four years and two months.
Janice Johansson, 52, appeared on 63 charges of fraud and one charge of money laundering.
She committed the offences over five years when she worked for an IT company as a finance and administration manager.
She used the money to set up a cafe, pay for her son's private school fees and on two property developments.
Johansson has repaid some of the money but still owes more than $1 million.
Judge David Ongley said Johansson had breached her former employer's trust. He gave her credit for an early guilty plea.
