Filmmaker Briar March's The Coffin Club, released online yesterday, portrays a group of Rotorua senior citizens who meet once a week to rejoice in life while facing the realities of death.

The group was started in 2010 by a former palliative care nurse, 78-year-old Katie Williams.

Ms March said she was in awe of her cast of seniors who have had the courage to sing and dance and perform for the camera.

The film is part of the Loading Docs series of short documentaries.
