Local media report the man was shot dead in Naval on the island of Biliran by three gunmen on a motorbike.
He is believed to have lived locally.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said due to privacy considerations it could not provide any further information.
A local media outlet said the man was the third foreigner shot dead on the island in recent times.
