The engineer who cleared a tuk-tuk that crashed in Wellington cut corners and made incorrect assumptions over safety tests, a report into the crash says.

Five of the tuk-tuk's seven passengers were taken to hospital after the crash on Roseneath Terrace in December.
The report said the vehicle's rollover strength was not good enough and the engineer who approved its design cut corners and made incorrect assumptions.
The Transport Agency says the engineer is now being investigated by the industry body.
Tuk-tuks have now been banned as passenger vehicles.
