A man reported overdue from a climbing trip on Mt Taranaki has been found dead.

The man failed to return on Tuesday evening and was reported overdue to police yesterday afternoon.
A search and rescue helicopter and ground teams searched through the evening and located his body on the mountain just after midnight.
Police are notifying his next of kin.
