Submissions close today on a proposal to centralise the country's health records.
The Government's National Health IT board is proposing a national database holding patient records that could be accessed by patients and clinicians.
Board director Graeme Osborne says centralising records will help to reduce spending, which has been going up by 8% a year.
The chairman of the Medical Association, Dr Peter Foley, told Nine to Noon that the information held will be just core information, not details on every conversation a patient has had with their doctor.
