A drug used to treat various heart conditions is being recalled because irregular sizing of the tablets could lead to a higher or lower doseage of the medicine.
The manufacturer of Pacific Atenolol 50mg and 100mg tablets is recommending that patients who take the tablets, should return the medicines to a pharmacy as soon as possible.
Mylan New Zealand says a different brand of atenolol tablets will be provided free as a replacement.
If consumers cannot get to a pharmacy, they should continue to take their medicine until they can, but should not take a larger or smaller tablet if they find one.
Mylan says people should contact their doctor immediately if they notice any ill effects.
