A man who pleaded guilty to importing and supplying six kilograms of cocaine has been sentenced to 14 and a half years imprisonment in the Christchurch's High Court.

Thirty-four-year-old Lee Dixon was arrested two years ago during Operation Hook, after police raided his home and found scales used for measuring cocaine, several cellphones and over US$10,000.

The police found Dixon was working with associates in South America, and he was convicted of importing six kilograms of cocaine.

He pleaded guilty in 2015.

National organised crime group detective Nick Pritchard said the Drug Harm Index estimated six kilograms of cocaine could cause $7 million worth of damage to the community.
