A mother and two children from an Opotiki family of five are still in hospital after a two-car crash near Whakatāne last night.
Police said they were called to the crash on Wainui Road at Maraetotara at about 7pm.
The 29-year-old mother is in intensive care at Waikato Hospital.
Two children are in Auckland's Starship Hospital, a nine-year-old girl is in a serious condition and a five-year-old boy is in a stable condition.
The 31-year-old father and a girl, 11, were both discharged from Whakatāne hospital this morning.
