Police are appealing for Dunedin residents to report any suspicious behaviour after a series of fires in the city.

Detective Sergeant Chris Henderson said flames from a wheelie bin fire in St Kilda last Saturday spread to a wooden house, and by the time officers discovered it, one side of the house was engulfed.
He said police got everyone out of the building safely, before controlling the fire with extinguishers from their patrol car.
Mr Henderson said this followed several recent vehicle fires in St Kilda including a commercial bus fire and two car fires.
