The Dominion Post says Wellingtonians are more likely to be given a parking ticket than people living in other cities. Parking wardens issued $9.2 million worth of tickets last year, while Christchurch residents paid about $5 million and Auckland City Council made about $8 million.
The paper features the story of an inmate in Rimutaka Prison who's alleged to have stabbed his roommate several times after he scared a feral cat the pair had befriended.

The paper reports strong winds caused trouble in two South Island spots. Campers at Lake Brunner on the West Coast had tents ripped out of the ground by the wind storm. In Kaikoura on the East Coast, winds prevented trampers from crossing a 300 metre exposed ridge on Mount Fyffe.

The ODT reports on the search for an Auckland woman on the Cascade Saddle in the Mt Aspiring National Park. The paper says she failed to turn up to The Dart Hut on time, though police are hoping she turned back and forgot to inform anyone.

The paper's lead headline reads 'Tomboy takes out Taranaki belle title', reporting that hunting fishing car-loving tomboy Chelsea Williams took out the Miss Taranaki crown in front of an enthusiastic sunbaked crowd at the Oakura beach carnival.
