Police hope a glove found near where a woman was assaulted in an Auckland quarry could help find her attacker.

The glove was found at the scene of the investigation.

The woman woke up in a quarry in Riverhead early last Sunday morning and realised she was being assaulted.

She has told police she doesn't know how she got there, from Ponsonby in central Auckland, more than 20km away.

The police have released a photo of a glove found along with several other items at the scene.

The gloves are believed to be sold by the Warehouse but the police want to hear from any smaller retailers who might also sell them.

They are also appealing for anyone who uses the gloves in their business and who might have a staff member who drives a silver-grey Ford Mondeo to get in touch.
