Swimmer missing at Lake Karapiro

The search for a man who went missing at Lake Karapiro will resume tomorrow morning after a search failed to find him this afternoon.

Police were told a man had gone missing in the area of Waipuke Reserve just after 3.30pm.

Searches by boat and helicopter failed to find him and had been stood down for the night.

Police said they would begin looking again in the morning.

Swimmer recovered from Auckland beach

A search is also set to resume tomorrow for a swimmer missing off Muriwai Beach, near Auckland.

Emergency services were called to Muriwai Beach around 6.20pm after two men got into difficulty in the water.

One man was pulled from the sea in a serious condition and has been taken to hospital.

The second swimmer is still missing.

Police, lifeguards and the Westpac Helicopter have been stood down for the night but will resume in the morning.
