Barry Leigh Fitzgerald was charged with careless driving in December after driving the car into a ditch on the Queenstown-Glenorchy Road.

The car was being driven as part of a tour from Auckland to Queenstown.

McLaren said the car only received minor damage, and Mr Fitzgerald sustained a minor thumb injury.

A police spokeswoman said he had been granted and completed diversion, but would not comment further.
