Councillors fed up with mayor's attacks

11:53 am on 22 December 2008

Northland regional councillors are threatening legal action against the Far North Mayor if he continues with what they see as personal attacks.

The councillors, who say that all they have received from Mayor Wayne Brown is media rhetoric and abuse, have had legal advice that there is a good case against him for libel.

Mr Brown has been promoting the idea of a unitary authority that would concentrate more power in the hands of the Far North District Council and do away with the Northland Regional Council.
