A former Auckland real estate agent who sent faeces in the mail is fighting to keep working in the profession.

Grant Tucker was in the High Court today, seeking an interim order allowing him to continue his real estate work while he appeals the cancellation of his licence.

Mr Tucker's lawyer told the court her client's past behaviour did not affect consumers and the public was not at risk.

The lawyer for the Real Estate Agents Authority said Mr Tucker's business had been reduced to almost zero, so not being able to work ahead of the appeal would make little difference.

The decision has been reserved.

In 2015, Mr Tucker was fined $3500 and discharged without conviction in the Auckland District Court over the faeces incident.

He also sent soiled sanitary pads and condoms, after falling out with his former employer, Custom Residential.
