Intruder shooting a 'targeted' attack

A 25-year old man is in hospital awaiting surgery after an intruder shot him in a Christchurch house.

Police believe the shooting, in Morley St, Bryndwr about 2am, was a targeted attack. They are looking for a car in relation to the incident.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Ford said the man was shot by one of two intruders.

What appeared to be blood stains were on the frame of the front door.

Mr Ford said the man was in Christchurch Hospital and his injuries were not life-threatening.

Police said the injured man had been operated on and was now expected to make a full recovery.

He said there was no immediate concern for the wider community.

"Police believe this address and/or person was targeted and there is no immediate concern for the wider community. It is thought that the people involved are known to each other," he said.

Mr Ford asked for public help to find a 1998 purple Honda Accord, registration CX4771.

Police also wanted to hear from anyone who saw a a black Subaru station wagon in the area at the time.
