The occupant of a Taranaki home destroyed by fire earlier this week has still not been found, and police are worried about his safety.
The missing man is 67-year-old Kerry Riley.
Earlier, police thought they had found a body in the remnants of the fire on Okahutiria Road in Waverley, but it turned out to be bones from an animal.
Detective Sergeant Varnia Allen said Mr Riley was last seen on 26 November, and have asked anyone who has had contact with him since then to come forward.
Ms Allen said police had serious concerns for him.
Police were continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
