Two climbers rescued from Mount Aspiring National Park have moderate to serious injuries, St John Ambulance says.

It said the men had been flown to Dunedin Hospital for treatment.

The pair were rescued from the south face of the mountain this afternoon.

The Rescue Co-ordination Centre said the two men belonged to a party of climbers who set off a rescue beacon about 10.30am.

Two helicopters were sent to get the men out.
