A woman is in hospital after a suspected hit and run in the Lower Hutt suburb of Wanuiomata.
Police said the woman was found on Coast Road near the Wainuiomata Golf Course and officers were called to the scene just before 6am.
They believe she had been hit by a car between 2.30am and 5am. She is is in a stable condition in Wellington Hospital.
Police want to hear from anyone who has information about vehicles in the area that have returned home with panel damage.
Any motorists who were travelling on Coast Road around that time are also asked to contact police so they can be eliminated from investigations.
