Police have arrested two men following an incident on a Wellington motorway in which the window of a truck was shot out by a passing motorist.
Police said the truck was travelling north on the Hutt motorway near Horokiwi on Monday afternoon when the passenger window was smashed by what is believed to have been a bullet.
Armed police swooped on a house in the area soon after, looking for a white Toyota stationwagon and its two occupants.
After finding the car and a firearm, police have arrested two men in relation to the incident.
No charges have been laid yet, although police said he pair were likely to be released on bail and are expected to appear in court later this week.
The truck driver is understood to be shaken but was unhurt, and managed to stop his vehicle without incident.
