Police have named the cyclist who died after crashing during a mountain bike event in Marlborough over the weekend as local man James Stuart Kennedy.
Mr Kennedy was found dead on Saturday down a 20 metre bank in the Kekerengu Valley between Blenheim and Kaikoura.
Police say he was riding in the annual Moa mountain bike race when he failed to take a slight right hand bend on a downward section and went over a bank.
