A body has been found in Auckland Domain, with police saying the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers were called about 3.45pm after a member of the public found the body in an area of bush between pathways in the central city park.

The police said it appeared the person who died had been sleeping rough, and had been there for several days.

The person had not yet been identified.

The 75-hectare park is the city's oldest, and is home to the Wintergardens, the Cenotaph and the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

The body was found in the lower part of the park, heading towards the tennis centre.
