Police in Dunedin are appealing for information after a large number of military-style semi-automatic guns and ammunition were stolen in a burglary.
A total of 23 handguns and five rifles were stolen from a Maitland Street house in central Dunedin yesterday afternoon.
Police said the gun owner has a firearms licence and had stored the guns securely.
Senior Sergeant Kallum Croudis said police were treating the crime as a priority.
