A mining lobby group is critical of the organisers of an anti-mining protest central Auckland on Saturday.
The demonstration was against Government proposals to allow exploration for minerals on protected land. An estimated 40,000 people took part.
The Minerals Industry Association says the claims of the organisers of were extreme and exaggerated.
Chief executive Doug Gordon says the organisers have misled their supporters about the mining industry.
It says they made extreme and exaggerated claims, and used emotional blackmail.
Another mining lobby group, Straterra, agrees the arguments used by the protesters were flawed.
However, Greenpeace says the mining proposals conflict with world trends towards clean, efficient technology.
