Police have named a kayaker who drowned in the Waitaki River, near Oamaru, on Sunday.
He was Marshall Robert Smith, 32, of Waimate.

A rescue operation was launched when police were alerted to an incident in Kurow yesterday afternoon, but the man was found drowned in the river a short time later.
Police said support was being offered to the man's family.
