Commuters in Hamilton will face disruptions on Friday after bus drivers took industrial action at midnight for 24 hours over a pay claim.
The Northern Distribution Workers Union, which has called the strike, says its members comprise about 60% of Go Bus drivers.
The union also says drivers will refuse cash fares on Saturday.
The company says it will lock out the drivers if they carry out that threat.
