Firefighters in Wellington have been kept busy with three blazes in the region overnight.

14 engines were called to a fire at a block of flats in the inner city suburb of Aro Valley about midnight.

The fire broke out in the bottom flat of the four-storey building, but no one was injured.

Six crews were called to another fire at a house in Tawa.

The occupants escaped unharmed.

A third fire broke out in a farm shed at Kaitoke in Upper Hutt.

The shed housed about 100 calves, which were all saved.
