Needle risk forces diabetes kit recall

6:15 pm on 9 September 2016

The makers of GlucaGen injections are recalling two batches because of a risk the needles have separated from the pre-filled syringes.

Novo Nordisk said an investigation found the needles had detached in a small number of cases.

GlucaGen is used by diabetics to treat severe low blood sugar.

The two batches being recalled are FS6X537 and FS6X873, which both expire on 31 August 2017.

MedSafe said it was aware of the recall but no issues involving users of GlucaGen had been reported.
