A pig hunter who fell 25 metres down a bank in bush at Marotiri, near Taupo earlier this morning has been rescued.
The 35-year-old man phoned emergency services and told them he was about 300m from the bushline, before his cell phone's battery ran out.
He has been taken to Rotorua Hopital with back and abdominal injuries.
The man had been out hunting overnight with three dogs, one of which has since returned home.
