A postie was knocked off his bicycle as police chased a stolen car through Nelson streets on Tuesday morning.
The chase ended after the van, which reached speeds up to 140km per hour, collided with another car.
Earlier, a police vehicle was slightly damaged during the pursuit.
The postie was not badly injured.
A man, 22, is to appear in court.
