'Not guilty' pleas over NZ's largest meth bust

2:07 pm on 6 July 2016

Four men charged over the country's biggest meth bust have pleaded not guilty and chosen to stand trial by jury.

Three of the men appeared in the Kaitaia District Court this morning, and a fourth appeared in court yesterday in Whangarei.

They are among seven people facing charges of importing methamphetamine as part of an organised crime group, following the discovery of nearly 500kg of the drug on Ninety Mile Beach last month.

The four have interim name suppression and they've been remanded in custody until 30 August, when they're all due back in the Kaitaia District Court.
