The man at the centre of a 30-hour manhunt in Palmerston North this week has appeared in the city's district court this morning.
Caleb Kovaleski, 25, has been charged with using a firearm against a police officer, dishonestly taking a Ford Courier ute, failing to stop for the police, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified.
Mr Kovaleski entered no plea when he appeared in the Palmerston North District Court today, and will reappear in court 21 July.
He also faced a charge from earlier in June of failing to attend a court appearance while on bail.
The firearm charge has a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison.
Mr Kovaleski holed himself up in the Palmerston North suburb of Cloverlea for about 30-hours from Thursday morning until he surrendered peacefully to the police yesterday evening.
