Police have arrested a man after they say his baby was found alone in a car while he was visiting a central Wellington strip club.
A member of the public spotted the baby in a car parked near Courtenay Place in the city centre at about 3am on Tuesday, and alerted police.
Police became concerned about the baby's breathing and took the child to hospital. They believe the one-year-old was left alone for up to 40 minutes.
A 42-year-old Feilding man has been charged with leaving a child under the age of 14 without reasonable supervision.
A police spokesperson says there was already an outstanding warrant for the man, who has been released on bail to appear in court next week.
