NZRU hearing about team on charter flight

6:15 am on 14 October 2008

The antics of a provincial rugby side aboard a charter flight are leading to a disciplinary hearing at the New Zealand Rugby Union.

Representatives from the South Canterbury Rugby Union will appear before NZRU judicial officer Bruce Squire QC in Wellington on Wednesday over the behaviour of members of the Heartland championship team aboard a charter flight from Gisborne to Wellington.

The team was refused permission at Wellington to board a connecting flight to Christchurch as a result.

It's understood players were rude to a flight attendant, who complained to the pilot.
