A seven-month-old baby who was shaken by a teenage relative is in a stable condition in Starship hospital in Auckland following surgery for head injuries.
The baby was flown from Invercargill to Starship in Auckland on Wednesday with critical head injuries.
A boy, aged 13, has admitted to shaking the baby, but will not face criminal charges if the child lives.
Starship says the baby is stable, but is still in intensive care on Friday.
