Police in Wairarapa are investigating what appears to be an assault on a man in Featherston.
A man was found in bushes on Thursday morning with head injuries. He was taken to Masterton Hospital and later flown to Wellington Hospital.
His condition was described as serious but stable.
Police do not know his identity and do not know how long he had been lying there.
