House prices in Gisborne have rebounded from a slump in July, but the head of the Real Estate Institute there says the market is still far from buoyant.
In the past year, the housing market in the region has seen the median price fall by almost 20%.
REINZ Gisborne president Philip Searle says potential buyers are adopting a wait and see attitude.
He's confident the market will pick up after the election. Mr Searle says Gisborne may not be attracting a lot of retirees, but professional people and young families are moving to the region because of the lifestyle.
