A 46-year-old man has been charged with abducting a five-year-old girl on her way to school in Palmerston North last month and indecently assaulting her.

Name suppression for Brendan Paul Henson was lifted in the Palmerston North District Court today.
An application for bail was withdrawn.
Police said the girl was walking to school with her two sisters on February 12 when she was grabbed off Shamrock Street.
She was found two hours later by a passer-by on the the other side of the city.
Mr Henson will next appear in court in two weeks' time.
