A convicted sex offender who kept his daughter as a sex slave for years is soon to be released from jail, despite still being deemed a medium to high risk to the community.

Ronald van der Plaat, 82, was jailed for 14 years in 2000 for rape and unlawful sexual connection with his daughter, from when she was nine years old.
Plaat was let out on parole in 2010, but after making an intimate visual recording, he was recalled back to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence in 2012.
In a Parole Board decision released today, Plaat was denied parole ahead of his release date of 11 May.
The Board said the 82-year-old continued to deny he carried out the offending, which the sentencing judge described as "bizarre and depraved".
The latest psychological report in September 2014 stated Plaat's most likely targets will be "vulnerable solo mothers, most likely non-European immigrants, and that he will groom their trust by offering financial, material, practical and emotional support".
The Board said an approved support person would live with him once he was released, and Plaat would be subject to GPS monitoring.
"Having been in prison for 15 years, Mr van der Plaat will have difficulty adjusting to life in the community. He may require assistance and support when he is released."
The Community Probation Service pointed out that while the GPS monitoring would tell them where Plaat was, it would not tell them who he was with.
Twelve special conditions had been set out, including not owning a camera or recording images and not being in contact with anyone under 16 years of age.
Plaat is eligible for the Extended Supervision Order, with a decision on that yet to be made.
