Farmer and environmentalist Gordon Stephenson has died. He was 91.

Dr Stephenson was the initiator of the QEII National Trust, which helps farmers preserve natural and cultural features on their land, and the Farm Environment Awards.
He was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to conservation in 1998.
Dr Stephenson was also awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Waikato in 2013.
