Former All Black Sir Brian Lochore has praised the decision to host international teams in country towns when the Rugby World Cup comes to New Zealand next year.

Following Georgia's defeat of Russia in a European Nations Cup match in Moscow at the weekend, it has been confirmed which New Zealand towns will host the Georgian and Russian teams during the tournament.

Georgia will play in Dunedin, Christchurch and Palmerston North and will visit Masterton between games.

Russia will play in New Plymouth, Rotorua, Nelson and Christchurch, and will visit Blenheim and Tauranga.

Sir Brian Lochore, who lives near Masterton, says the allocation of international teams to small towns provides the chance for everyone to be involved.
