Customs seize drugs worth $4 million

7:31 am on 19 March 2010

Customs officials say they have seized four kilograms of crystal methamphetamine at Auckland airport with a street value of $4 million.

Spokesperson Mark Day says the seizure is significant because it involves the finished product, ready for sale or use, whereas other recent seizures have been of precursor materials.

Mr Day says police arrested two Chinese men arriving on a flight from Hong Kong.

The men have appeared in Manukau District Court without entering pleas, and are remanded in custody.
