Poor management rather than a lack of funding is being blamed for problems at a rest home at Fielding.
Ranfurly Manor rest home had its contract terminated due to neglect of its elderly residents: some patients were left without oxygen and others had to shout for help because of broken call systems.
However, Mid-Central District Health Board says enough money was available and the facility could be run well with proper management in place.
Funding manager Mike Grant says Ranfurly Manor will continue to operate under statutory management until it is either sold or a suitable organisation is found to run it.
