PM could be called before Parliament's Privileges Committee; Labour may have only three MPs south of Christchurch after the election; New Orleans awaits Hurricane Gustav.
NZ Herald
The New Zealand Herald says Prime Minister Helen Clark could be called to appear before Parliament's Privileges Committee to discuss what she knew about the $100,000 donation to a legal fund for suspended Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters by expatriate billionaire Owen Glenn.
The Herald also has a picture of more than 200 temporary beds at the University of Texas awaiting patients evacuated from a hospital in New Orleans.
The paper also reports beautifully carved dispatch boxes donated to the British House of Commons 60 years ago by New Zealand are being damaged by a black marker pen used by Prime Minister Gordon Brown in the house.
Dominion Post
The Dominion Post says as many as seven sitting Labour MPs - including two ministers - have been dumped into unwinnable list spots unless the Government engineers a dramatic turnaround by election night. The paper also features New Orleans on the front page where people were fleeing in the face of Hurricane Gustav.
A highly regarded child cancer specialist who quit Wellington Hospital last year says she walked away because she felt inadequate resourcing was putting patients at risk.
The Press
The Press says schools are scrambling for new fund-raising ideas after a $42 million slump in locally raised funds.
As part of their fundraising, Mount Hutt College is grazing sheep for extra money and the senior basketball team at Christchurch's all-boys St Bede's College is selling mascara.
The Labour list and the latest from New Orleans also feature on the front page.
ODT
The Otago Daily Times quotes the Carisbrook Stadium Trust as saying up to 600 people may be employed building Dunedin's new stadium. The trust announced on Sunday it was seeking a main construction contractor, sub-contractors and suppliers for the stadium in Awatea Street, near Logan Park.
Labour may have only three MPs south of Christchurch after the election, following the release of the Labour list.
